Heh, never heard of any of those myself I don't listen to music a whole lot, but when I do, it's generally classic rock n' roll, maybe a little classical, and I admit to the occasional Weird Al. _________________ The Farming Game - Software Edition for PC, Mac, Linux

My son doesn't so much like bands, but specific songs. His current is Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve but he also likes Linkin Park. He also likes the theme to Starwars and the standard kid fare - Laurie Berkner, Blue's Clues, etc. _________________ To be idle is a short road to death and to be diligent is a way of life; foolish people are idle, wise people are diligent. |

Both my 12 yo and 9 yo really like Elvenking, especially Seasonspeech (the band's a combo of power metal and folk music, that one piece is really amazing.) They heard their 18 yo brother listening to this and now it's all over the house. Other than that, the 12 yo (who plays drums) pretty much disdains vocals and likes alternative music with strong rhythms. His 9 yo sister likes Tchaikovsky. And I like things like Mannheim Steamroller, Transiberian Orchestra, and vocalists like Loreena McKennitt and other Celtic influenced music (it just sounds nice in the background.)
Btw, I hadn't realized that power metal music is very Tolkien. Lots of lyrics about good vs evil in the form of dragons, wizards, elves, etc. And the vocalists can be incredible, often opera trained. |

I have 4 sons ( 11,9,4,1) who have an appreciation for lots of different music. Some of their faves right now (esp. the 2 older ones):
Family Force 5
Skillet
The Newsboys
and many other Christian "screamo" bands in our local area
Me? I'm a big fan of David Crowder and most of the artists from Passion. I like some James Taylor now and again. Give me classical or give me death. Oh, and opera esp. the tenors.

We have 5 (15, 13, 10, 7, and 4 years old), but they like whatever the oldest likes, with their own occational faves.
They like:
Skillet (but my hubby doesn't approve)
Toby Mac
Crystal Meyer
Superchic(k) (one of my favorites)
KJ 52
Reliant K (another one of my faves)
and Veggie Rocks!
I can't think of others at the moment. Sheila, I too like David Crowder. I also really like Jars of Clay and the Neweboys, or on quiet moments I like Celtic worship music (but you didn't ask us moms, did you?) |
