Hi everyone,
My name is Lydia and I'm a single home schooling mom.
I was just wondering how many other single homeschooling parents are out there?
What is your experience like? Do you work a job or do you work at home?
How do you manage your time? In other words HOW DO YOU DO IT?
Please share your experience! Thanks.

Hi Lydia,
I'm a single, homeschooling mom. I'm on a disability pension due to internal damages incurred during a surgery nearly 7 years ago. I never know how I'll feel from one moment to the next so we simply do what we can when we can.
My 7 yr old is doing grades 2/3. My 10 yr old is doing grade 5. My 15 yr old is currently in public school (grade 10) but has decided to be homeschooled next year. All of us have extra activities as well.
The only way I can manage to get things done is to make everything educational and to not waste any time if I can avoid it. For instance, while my son is at hockey or soccer for an hour, my youngest and I work in her math book. While shes at choir my son and I sit in the waiting room doing social studies(or whatever). When we play a family game I make sure its word, math, or history related depending on what we need at that time. I rarely let them watch TV so we all look forward to a movie night once a week where we go to the library and pick out a something like Beethovens Life or Canada History...most of the newer movies are done with humor and we enjoy them very much.
I try to do the hands on activities with them and I try to save the paperwork they can do independantly for the times when I'm not well enough to help them at all. Now that they are older they also turn to each for help on things. _________________ Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.-Goethe |

It is really hard working and being mom at the same time. Time management is my ultimate weapon. Plan everything ahead. But, before you accept another job or any offer, think very well you can handle another load. Sometimes we accept job offers to earn more not thinking we cannot handle them no matter how hard time management tactics we use. The best you can, choose a single job that pays you enough than accepting multiple ones.
