Although I'm new to homeschooling I've done tons of research. Here in our Province of Alberta there are 15,000 Registered Homeschoolers! That's a lot considering our largest City isn't even 1,000,000 people. Calgary and Edmonton are the Large City Centres with approx. 700,000 to 800,000 people each.
We're in Calgary. The Alberta Government does give Homeschoolers Funding up to $1400 - the mean is around $600/year. Although the catch is that you must be registered by a Resident Board no later than September 30, 2005. So if you withdraw your child from a Public, Private or Catholic School Board in the middle of the year you get no money until the following September.
