My 9yo daughter and I will be spending next month in Seoul. I found a Yongsan HSing Yahoo group but was wondering if there are other groups? Are there any local Korean groups?

Anyone interested in meeting up please contact me. It would be wonderful to meet other families, especially those with girls ages 7-10ish. My daughter would love to make some new friends.

My wife and I have 3 boys (dual-citizens). In September 2014, they will be 4th grade, 2nd grade, and the final boy is not yet in school. The two older boys were attending Seoul Foreign School, but despite the wonderful facilities, the education is not worth the incredible cost. SO, we plan to homeschool from September. Having no experience, we're thinking of using Calvert's program, but I'm hoping to meet up with other homeschooling parents - especially if you live near Ilsan. I want to make sure our kids can keep up social interaction with other children. Thanks! Please email me at

I realize this may be an old topic, but I found it while searching for some information on Seoul

My wife stays home here in the States and homeschools our children. I love that we are able to do this and I see the benefits of it in my kids.

I am also a film maker, mostly doing weddings, but I like to tinker in documentaries, just for submissions to film festivals. As a hobby.

I had been toying with a few ideas highlighting homeschooling. I want to put it in a wonderful light since I am passionate about the concept.

Then a friend of mine (Also a film maker) and I decided we wanted to travel internationally on my 40th birthday (here in a few years) and it got me to thinking about homeschooling internationally. I know how it is treated, accepted, and used here in the States, but it never occurred to me how it may be received and performed outside the States.

One of the cities on our lists of "maybe's" to visit is Seoul and I thought that I might be able to use some of that time to work on the short documentary highlighting homeschooling in a country where school is very vigorous (I understand kids sometimes study 16 hours a day) and how the outcome of homeschooled kids in Korea compare to those kids who go to public schools.

I have heard children in Korean schools can be very cruel and extremely focused on looks, and I wanted to highlight that aspect of the different schooling methods/options.

If any families here that are located in and around Seoul may be interested in helping me gather information and data, I would appreciate it.

You can email me email address jaystemple @ gmail . com (Jay Stemple is my public forums alias, to avoid a lot of spam) or you can contact me via my contact page in the web address that is linked to my profile.

Thanks in advance.
