Homeschooling a child with special needs...where to start

Postby MJMsMommy » Thu Mar 06, 2014 10:45 am

I am considering homeschooling my 5 year old daughter with severe developmental delays and a vision impairment. The school she is in right now is okay but is not meeting her needs the way I see fit. She gets very minimal therapy in school and is often just sitting there listening to the other kids. Another reason I want to home school her is due to the fact that she is always getting sick. She was born 17 weeks premature and has always had a not so great immune system. I get tired of having to deal with their attitude about her being absent almost weekly. I guess my question is can anyone give me some guidance about where to start with homeschooling a child with special needs(we are in Colorado if that matters)? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
