Buying Materials ,Teacher discounts question

Postby jblwhopper » Mon Feb 20, 2012 10:18 pm

I am new here and also new to homeschooling, as this will be our first year starting our 6yr old and 4 yr old. We have decided to go the eclectic route, since that fits us more. So I have been busy lately finding material that we want to use for curriculum, and I thought that I would pop these questions here.
1. If you register your homeschool and give it a name, are you able to receive discounts at teacher supply stores?

2. Do any of you get discounts at other places like Office Depot and the like? I have read about people doing that, but not sure how they do it.

3.What do I need to do to "register" our school as a "school/academy"?

4. Are there any good online stores that you buy your materials from? We have mainly used Amazon, but I would like some other feedback in this area as to what sites some of you like to use.

Thanks for the replies:)

I also love ordering curriculum from Amazon.com - I usually combine that order with another order from Rainbow Resource. Rainbow Resource has low prices and a huge selection. I compare the two places to see who has the lower price. Rainbow Resource will sometimes have a product that Amazon does not have or vice versa. Here is a link for Rainbow Resource:

And here are several links that will answer your other questions:
