The government has issued a massive recall of some of the more popular brands of peanut butter.
The Food and Drug Administration is warning that it could make people very sick, WESH 2 News reported.
All varieties of Peter Pan peanut butter and Great Value peanut butter, which are both manufactured by ConAgra, are being recalled. The questionable jars all start with the product code No. 2111.
That code is printed right on the lid.
If anyone has those jars at home, the government is urging them to throw them out because of the risk of contamination.
Consumers can save the lid for a full refund. Call ConAgra at 866-344-6970 for more details.
Early Thursday morning, several jars of the peanut butter were still on the shelves of the Albertsons in Altamonte Springs. The store said it has now pulled all affected jars off the shelves.
Health officials said they have seen a salmonella outbreak in nearly 300 cases in 39 states. The largest numbers of cases were reported in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Tennessee and Missouri.
The cause of the salmonella is still being investigated. Salmonella is usually connected with uncooked chicken.
Health officials said it could make you sick.
"Terrible cramping, vomiting and then diarrhea for a couple of days. That usually passes within four or five days," said Dr. Paul Pepe of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
Officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said they believe this is the first salmonella outbreak associated with peanut in U.S. history.
ConAgra said none of its tests have indicated the presence of salmonella in the peanut butter.
"We are taking this precautionary measure because consumer health and safety is our top priority," said spokesman Chris Kircher.
Personally my friend has been sick because of this, so we are trying to get the word out. I have 2 jars that are now in the trash!! _________________ The Ultimate Home Schooling Record Book |

If consumers have this product, they should discard it, but save the product lid. For a full refund, consumers must return the Peter Pan Peanut Butter or Great Value Peanut Butter product lid along with their name and mailing address to ConAgra Foods, P.O. Box 57078, Irvine, CA 92619-7078.
Consumers with questions or concerns about the recall can call the 24-hour toll-free hotline at 866-344-6970. For more information about salmonella, visit www.ific.org _________________ The Ultimate Home Schooling Record Book |

We're fine, all our peanut butter has been sitting on top of the refrigerator for a minimum of months
EDIT: And I ate some recently and I didn't die. _________________ The Farming Game - Software Edition for PC, Mac, Linux

Our peanut butter was bought over 2 months ago and it was bad. Also if you take the jars back to the store they will refund your money without a receipt _________________ The Ultimate Home Schooling Record Book |
