| I am trying to start my 15 year old in hs but it is really over whelming trying to figure out what I need to provide her for teaching (especially since half of the school year is over). She is slow in math but average on all other subjects. She is currently in ps an has an IEP written. We live in Kansas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

hmm.. we're using Bob Jones for Grammar..
tossed the literature and are winging that..
Abeka for science and history..
and a video course for math.. (algebra) that seems to be
working rather well. I'll try to get the name of it again when I
get home in the morning. _________________ My new blog:

Here's some of the stuff we used in 9th grade.
Science:
TV shows on weather, measuring the age of the earth, earthquake research, etc.
a locally-produced book of the history of our state that covered a lot of geology
English:
Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare
Great Expectations by Dickens
science fiction
Social Studies:
library books on ancient Egypt, classical Greece and Rome, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, etc.
Fine Arts:
visits to local museums, pottery shops where you make your own pieces, orchestra performances, etc. |
