Here's some of the stuff we used in 9th grade.

Science:
TV shows on weather, measuring the age of the earth, earthquake research, etc.
a locally-produced book of the history of our state that covered a lot of geology

English:
Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare
Great Expectations by Dickens
science fiction

Social Studies:
library books on ancient Egypt, classical Greece and Rome, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, etc.

Fine Arts:
visits to local museums, pottery shops where you make your own pieces, orchestra performances, etc.
