Hi, my name is Kate and we're in our second year of homeschooling. In our area we have not found any other families that homeschool. I've read everything I can find on the subject, but would really like to be in contact with other families in our area. We are currently using Alpha Omega Life Packs and Abeka teaching aids and readers. Our day is pretty much in chaos but we manage to get the lessons done.

My three are 2, 4, & 6. Our oldest is the only one homeschooled right now (1st grade). My daughter is in a preschool program because she didn't want to learn from me. (Very independant and too much like me.)
Maybe we can get together and compare notes. I would love to hear about your experiences.

Except for the 12th, Friday's are generally my free day. We could meet at McDonald's in Crosby.

How do you do it? I'm pulling my hair out most days and I only have three. You must be an organization queen.
What's your school schedule like homeschooling so many different ages?

The first two or three are always the hardest. After that, the oldest can start helping out around the house - and, if necessary, teaching the youngest Smile

Children aren't a burden, they're an investment!

That's great. You really have a strong family dynamic. What about other family members (etc. grandparents), do they offer any emotional support? My parents accept our decision, but I don't get the feeling of much support. My mother complains mostly that I can't just up and go shopping with her when she wants to.

Does your husband help with the lessons any? I work two days a week at my daughter's preschool and trying to get my husband to follow a lesson plan has not been successful so I sort of gave up. I cram as much the other three days as I can and leave my husband in charge of "homework" time which never gets finished. Vince says he supports homeschooling our kids but won't apply himself when I need the lessons done. I'm considering quitting my job so Avery won't get off track.

It is so great to chat with someone else like me.

Very Happy It is just me and my kids! We work it out on our own. My husband is great but he doesn't help at all with homeschool. My 15 yr old helps alot by fixing lunch. We try to start school about 9:00 break for lunch at 12 and then continue at 1:00 until we are done.

Sort of like mine except our day starts at 2PM (when my husband leaves for work) and ends by dinner time.
