i am new at this and i am looking for helpful tips or suggestions.

Here are some tips:

*Read to your child every day. This will create a love of reading and a love of learning.

*Take your child to the public library on a regular basis to check out books.

*Don't try to make homeschooling like regular school. Think outside the box. Make it relaxed and fun. (Don't just sit at a desk or table doing worksheets.)

*Don't isolate yourself. Join a homeschool support group or co-op in your area so your child can make friends with other homeschoolers.

*Be positive and make learning enjoyable!

You can easily find out about your State laws (usually free), and connect with others at your State Home School Association.
