Very Happy Hi everyone!
My daughter is in 6th grade and I am at a loss at to what to teach her. We don't have any money to buy a new curriculum. Currently I'm using the old-fashioned "Ray's Arithmetic" and supplementing it with Kathyrn Stout's "Maximum Math". The Max. Math works for my son who is add and my other 2 younger daughters, as does the Ray's and our cuisenaire rods and homemade games, flash cards. But my daughter can compute in her head and I really need a workbook she can do on her own that is cheap and challenging. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Miquon is inexpensive but I don't know much about it at the 6th grade level. The other option is getting some highschool text books. ASk the local school is you can borrow some.

Very Happy I checked out the freebies on the Singapore Math and I think I found what my daughter will need and it is inexpensive. But for my other kids, Singapore Math is pretty advanced. Oh well, I didn't take enough math in school so guess I'll be learning along with her. Sad Thanks for your help, though. Smile

I really like the Straight Forward Math series of workbooks by Garlic Press. They're only about $4 each.

It seems weird seeing it spelt 'math'. Used to 'maths'. but that's btp.

Perhaps you could find something off the internet if you have it?

Perhaps some stuff from your local library?

Changed my mind about Singapore math. It has no explanations. I'm also learning to be more creative and do math games where all four of my kids learn, too. I'll check out the Garlic Press. Thanks! Very Happy
