 Here are some 'perks' of hs we enjoy:
--no more getting up at 5:30 am to catch bus and ride one hour to endure obscenities, etc.
--BIRTHDAYS ARE SCHOOL 'HOLIDAYS' 
--doing hs in pajamas
I'm sure you all have many to post here.

Going for a hike or morning walk and calling it P.E.
Baking cookies or some other treat and calling it Math or Home Ec.
Being able to do things during the week, when it's less crowded, rather than on the weekend when everyone else is trying to fit it in.
Staying up late to finish reading that great book, without worrying about being too tired to get up for school the next day. |

Making flutes for shop class and practical math exercises.

Hi again!
today I enjoyed a new perk; watching my two youngest enjoy their afternoon free time by making up a skit called "Judge Trudy" with their little stuffed lamb on a stack of books on the 'witness' stand! What a hoot!
It is so great to see my children enjoy playing with each other!
--also, not having to "detox" with my girls emotionally when they come home from the public school "battlefield"

my husband gets his day off on a week day so my fave perk is being able to spend the time together and not wait until dd gets home from school to have an outing.
Also, starting later on Mondays when we just can't get motivated |

| Literally staying in our P.J.'s all day if we choose to and being able to let my oldest stay up late and spend one on one time with us alone to read or talk or whatever. |

No class bell telling us that we have to stop what we're doing.
More fieldtrips to places we enjoy.
A relaxed atmosphere in which learning is fun.
A healthy lunch that my son WILL eat.
Start when we want, stop when we want.
I get to see what my son is doing, I know how well he's doing, I know what he needs to work on, and he doesn't have to wait another year do kindergarten work or two years to do first grade math. |

no parent teacher conferences, moldy lunch boxes, sticly notes from the teacher. THe best perk- Mental Health days!

You mean those 5 minute sessions in which your child's teacher tells you how amazing your child is?
Good riddance to pointless conferences in which a parent learns nothing. |

YES!! I agree completely! My daughter's always had a very small appetite, and teachers over the years have always felt that I just didn't put food in her lunch that she liked...now I don't have to worry about convincing another teacher of this! Whew!
Also, my girl's so dang motivated, she just has her mathbook (half of it) to finish to complete the first grade! It was always frustrating in her other school, because they wouldn't give her any other work, and she got tired of doing math. Now I can just give her some second grade work, and graduate her when she's done with her math! I'll make a game of it.
We are a very devoted skating family (we go to our local rink twice to three times a week), and were having trouble figuring out how to have her in school and still be able to go a couple weeknights a week. Now that we're homeschooling, we can just start a bit later the next day, and we don't have to worry about nights going a bit later than normally!
No more having to deal with teachers that doubt my daughter's learning abilities, either...which we've had trouble with, particularly with one teacher she used to have!
YAY for Homeschooling!!!!

the flexibility is awesome, if I have work I need to do around the house or in the family business it can be done and schoolwork done later. I can start whenever I feel like it and work as much as I like.
More time for reading and family are big bonuses. I can learn the things I want and in depth. The positives far outweigh negatives.
