Do I even have to let them know?

Thank you!

Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't. Depends on which state you're in. In general, though, it's a good idea to notify your school when you pull out, since doing so prevents them thinking your children are truant and hunting you down to find out.

If you home-school your child from the very beginning you are not required to inform the school. It is only if you have sent your child/children to a public or private school and then made the decision to home-school is when you need to inform them.

Although, like "Theodore" commented on, it may vary depending where you live. I would do some extra research on it for your area. (It will only take 10-15 minutes :))

Good luck :)
