I was wondering when our children complete homeschooling in the state of Florida can we give them a ''Homeschool Diploma""? Will it be good enough to enter college? _________________ natasha w. |

Of course you can issue your dc a diploma.
Most homeschoolers have no problems entering college with diplomas *and* transripts issued by their parents. There are always exceptions, but it is rarely an issue any longer. _________________ Married to Mr. Ellie for over 30 years

Yes, you can issue your children a homeschool diploma and yes, it will be good enough for entering college. You will probably also need to provide a transcript along with it. Check out this page on HSLDA's site for all the information you will need about homeschool high school diplomas -

Hope this was helpful. _________________ Laura L. Barth

When my son starts High school, we will use our curriculum's Homeschool plus program. It is a service that will keep transcripts of each student's courses and issue a diploma for graduation.
We use Christian Light Education.
other curriculums have this service too.
or do your own transcript, make sure you know what is required by the State of Florida for graduation. currently Florida requires:
4 credits in English (at age 16 they can get credits from a community college for English for 2 years total, usually their Junion and Senior years)
4 credits in Math (same for community college, 2 credits can be college courses)
3 credits in Science (comminuty college courses count)
3 credits in Social Studies (commity college course count)
1 credit in fine arts or performing arts
1 credit in P.E. and health
4 credits in major area of interest (check with community college for courses) we have a technical highschool/college in our area that allows students to train for a skilled job. such as computers/networking, childcare professionals, and many other jobs to become cooks, chefs, bakers, hair salon professionals, and much more, as soon as a child is 16 they can go to this school and train for a job skill that interests them.
4 credits in electives (check with community college)
24 credits are need for a diploma
There might be changes to this coming soon, keep yourself updated with what is required by your state. _________________ Sharon |
