Should I Get the curriculum for the county?

Postby samejkev23 » Thu Feb 04, 2010 4:50 pm

Hello
I live in MD and wanted to homeschool my son starting in sept. He would be starting the first grade. I dont know how to create an age appropriate curriculum and thought that using a guideline for the state is a good start. Is it? Or are there other resources I can get to figure what I should be teaching him.
Please help!

You could use your state guidelines as a start. That would be fine; you don't have to follow it to the letter. It is just to give you an idea of what to teach when.

If you buy a pre-packaged curriculum, they usually come with a scope and sequence. If you don't, you could go by your state guidelines or check these 2 links for some more ideas.

Hope this helps.
