school in a RV across country

Postby candy atkinson » Wed Jun 28, 2006 9:54 am

I an homeschooling a 5-k boy, 4-k girl and have a 1yr old girl. My husband and I are thinking of spending a year in a RV traveling the country. It first was a joke/dream but we actually think it could work out and are now researching and working toward it. We don't plan to go for at least another year, maybe two. Has anyone every done this or something similar while homeschooling? :?: How do you handle things like- the library? What are some things I need to look into? What are problems that you could have prevented? I know there are challenges to overcome but what a learning experience for my kids....AND me and my husband! What a great family adventure!

Candy,

I'm afraid I have no advice at all, but I just wanted to say how great I think that is. There is so much to be learned from travel, and what a great family bonding experience. That sounds like the type of thing that most people talk about but never follow through with. I love to hear about people following their dreams.

Good luck!

Candy, this is my dream! I so want to do this same thing with my boys. I think we are hoping to do it when they are more like 7 and 10 (right now they are 4 and 1). I would love to hear more of how your trip develops!

My husband and I have talked about this since way before we were homeschooling. I am so excited for you. I would love to get some people together someday and make a wagon train across the country! God Bless America!
