Biology Coloring Workbook by Alcamo

Postby EllenP » Fri May 19, 2006 8:45 am

Hi -- I am wondering if anyone has used this text/workbook as a complete Biology text for high school (one year)? My son doesn't do well with straight texts and I've had this for a few years but never used it -- wondering now if it would work well for him. But more importantly, is it acceptable for college entrance requirements...and has anyone done this??

(Unfortunately the author died a few years ago or I would have emailed him directly.)

Please reply! Thanks,
Ellen

From reading the Amazon description, it looks like it could work for someone who's visual / hands on, but colleges may look a bit askance at the title (you used a coloring book for Biology?), and if you go this route, I highly suggest following up with a CLEP Biology exam. If your son gets a good score on that, colleges won't care what method he used to learn.

I self-studied from a textbook myself, and took the CLEP (72/80 score).

Thanks -- I've been hearing a lot about CLEPs, so that seems like a good possibility. What book did you self-teach from? (Please don't say ABeka!)

No, it was a regular college textbook: Concepts in Biology.
