In Texas, do I need to inform anyone that I will be homeschooling my child? Our daughter is of age to start school and we will be homeschooling, but I didn’t want anyone from the state/school district knocking on our door asking why our child is not in school
Thanks

Do I need to Inform anyone?

No. HSLDA says that you're supposed to cover reading, spelling, grammar, math, and good citizenship, but there are no attendance, qualification, notice, recordkeeping, or testing requirements for the state of Texas. You can basically just do your own thing without worrying about anyone bothering you.
Agreed - we've homeschooled in Austin for 9+ years. If you are taking kids out of public school in Texas, I think you need to be a bit cautious/discerning. For kids never started in PS, there's no need to inform any govt officials. Have a blast!
