I guess I'll just do the last name thing as I'm not very good at thinking of names LOL I'll definitely think about the transcript thing when the time comes because we don't do grades either. They caused me problems in school that I refuse to create for my daughter. Don't get me wrong I was a good student but if I got less than an A I'd always get so upset.

My daughter is that way also. I do her grades as Pass/Fail which will work for my state until High School. I figure, they either got it or they didn't... and, lets face it, they usually do. So, my perfectionist daughter can have straight P's and the state is happy. :)

I'm a fan of mixing the kids names. What are your kids names? We could play with them...

Yes, but what if you have a whole pile of kids? It might be kind of hard to work all their names in...

That is so funny!

I wanted to pick a name that I would not have to change as each child graduated, or if we moved to another state (which we have several times. A unique name that can follow us around forever until my last one has graduated. That is one reason that I did not want to make it "locality" specific or "child" specific. Plus, like Theodore said, I have eight children, including all the names of them could be cumbersome, plus if I had any future children, I would have to change it again.

Yes... that is much easier with only 2 kids. LOL!

I've been getting so many great ideas -

In the state of Delaware you must officially file a homeschool name with the Dept of Ed.

My nick Lenethren is the first 3 letters of my kids names put together.
Lenna, Ethan, Renia

If I were to use a homeschool name its what I'd go with.

Just a thought!

Lenethren Academy
Lenethren Home Academy
Lenethren Home school
Lenethren Education School

Sorry I am not so creative. That's the only thing I can come up with right now. I like the idea that you name it after you kids names. They are 3 now but if you are going to have another one would be fair to change the name to include the 4th one.

Cheers,

Kim

We named our school this past summer. We are the Stepping Stones Academy. We made up letter of acceptance for the kids with "official school stationary", the whole nine yards. We just did it for fun, and the kids love it. Although, our youngest got upset because he thought we were sending him away to school. He read the letter, started to tear up, and said "But, Mommy, you said we could homeschool. I don't want to go to school anywhere else." After we explained SSA is our homeschool name, he was good to go.

Do you have to report it

Postby hatcher1999 » Wed Jan 17, 2007 12:38 am

Other than for transcrpits, college forms and employment forms, do you have to report the name you decide to call your HS...Right now mine is my husband and mine:

Victoria & Chris Hatcher

Since I do most of the teaching other than Math cause he is GOOOD at Math and me so-so.

You don't have to report the name to anyone, it's just something you fill in whenever a form happens to ask for "school name". Though I imagine that if you're homeschooling under the private school law, you probably don't want to go changing the name later, since that will cause unnecessary confusion.
