Parts of speech - K/1st

I am just wondering how much attention you put on the parts of speech when your children are in K-1st grade.
The handwriting book we are using touches on the noun/verb/adjective parts, but that is about it. Is that enough, or should we do more?
Thanks!

I think that's plenty. They'll get more and more of it as they move through their school years.

Ok, thanks! I have tried looking up a scope and sequence for SC, but can't seem to find one. A lot of other states have them, but of course not mine! :)
I even looked up private schools in this area to see if they listed what they would learn in 1st with no luck.
I know they have those "what your 1st grader should know" kind of books, but I wanted to be sure my son is on target with his actual state, too, you know?
Anyway, thanks for the help - it does make me feel better!

Sometimes the S&S is by another name, try Curriculum frameworks, or call the local superintendent and he may be able to help you. They are usually very happy to hear that you want to follow "their" plan. :)

THat doesn't mean you have to btw.
