Well i know my son well enough to know that he will find every and anyway to get out of doing something. I've been trying to break the habit for a long time and when it comes to chores and such he knows he can't get away with it.
You would think that he would realize the same is going to apply to home schooling. He slept through the programs on TV I had him watch and so I told him if he was that tired I guess he was going to have to start going to bed earlier. Thats started a fight. Now it was time to read. He picked out a book from the library yesterday and it turns out its a series book and is seventh in the series. He says it doesn't make any sense and doesn't want to read it. I tell him he is going to find something to read and read for an hour. He picks out the Chronicle of Narnia from my book shelf and comes back an hour later to tell me the details of the movie he watched last year. Clearly he is only telling me what he saw in the movie and is not reading the book since the book starts with two completely different characters. He gets to read for another hour and actually read it this time. This starts another fit. A screaming yelling one because apparently this isn't fair now. ha ha . He gets sent to his room without TV where he screams and yells for 30 minutes and even pulls the sheets off his bed. So when I start to hear things hitting the wall I walked in there and stood in the doorway with a belt in my hand. Its amazing how that always inspires silence.
By the end of the day he has read 22 pages of the book and told me the details of what he read and put the sheets back on his bed and cleaned his room. Tomorrow he will read 50 pages instead of reading for an hour because i caught him goofing off twice during that hour. And he will go to bed an hour earlier tonight. After watching two more programs on national geographic tonight since he slept through them this morning.
Ok guys grade me, how did I do, he he !!!!
