Language Arts for Excelled 2nd grade reader?

Postby mangosink » Tue Oct 13, 2009 10:58 pm

We have used Abeka language Arts since K and are now in 2nd grade. I have found the 2nd grade book to be pretty useless, mostly just review of 1st grade. My daughter is an voracious reader, and reads way above grade level. What curriculum can you suggest that would fit a child like this? Also, I'd like to get opinions on Shurley grammer for her. Thanks.

I forgot to mention that she goes to a tutorial 2 days a week that does creative writing and Easy Grammer. Would Shurley be overkill with the Easy Grammer?

After our kids learned to read well, we've used Learning Language Arts Through Literature with good success. Just start at the level that challenges your child and go as fast as possible. They won't be bored.
