Teaching Writing Road to Reading in an easy way:-)

:D Hi! Years ago I purchased the Writing Road to Reading and tried to teach myself, then later applied it in the classroom. It is not user friendly but there is a lot to glean. This is my suggestion: Buy the phonogram cards-my current ones are from the spin-off of WRTR.
I AM HAVING GREAT SUCCESS TEACHING MY 4 KIDS JUST USING THE PHONOGRAM CARDS. Here's how:
I work one-on-one with each child by 1. holding flash card and having them say all sounds of each letter or combination of letters(i.e. phonogram) on the card. 2. I dictate the sounds and have them write them on their wipe board and we correct as we go. 3. For spelling I dictate the sample words on the back of the card. When I taught the WRTR I did have the kids say the sound as they wrote it, etc. but the way I do it now is simpler. Sometimes I have them do this but they're learning cursive. Anyway, I usually spend 15-20 minutes a day with each of my kids-well, sometimes a lot less for my 2 add kids  . They're all reading well but my middle daughter-4th grade-was struggling so much and now she is reading fluently! Praise the Lord!
Sorry for the long post but PHONICS IS THE ONLY WAY TO LEARN TO READ WELL!
