Questions about College Application and Financial Aid

Financial Aid:

1. The form on http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/FOTWWebApp/complete013.jsp
says "the 2008-2009 School Year (July 1st, 2008 - June 30th, 2009)", that's only available option.

If I am planning starting college on fall 2009, would that be correct? I'm kind of confused.

College Application:

2. In terms of letter of recommendations, when do I have my (former) teacher send them in before or after I send the college application?

Colleges hand out financial aid starting at the beginning of the school year and going onwards from there, which is why the 2008-2009 form is still available. As the school year progresses, however, unassigned financial aid runs out, which is why you generally want to file as early as possible. I'm guessing the 2009-2010 form will become available before the start of the next school year, just keep looking for it.

As for letters of recommendation, you want to either send them along with your application, or just after the application.
