I'm a newbie here. Just needed some guidance on this topic.
I met w/ a counselor at a local community college a couple months ago inquiring about if they offered some classes where a homeschooled student would be able to sign up for and use that course as a HS credit. Specifically chem. and algebra II as I am finding it difficult to achive the desired understanding by just doing these two courses at home. They said that I could sign up for the concurrent enrollment and if my parents decided that they wanted to use that course as a high school credit they could. I just wanted to check w/ fellow homeschoolers to hear their experiences w/ this. I would assume that it would be best to be able to sign up for the developmental courses but I don't think that you can do that if you are concurrently enrolled. They have to be college level classes. If I have never taken the HS level of the classes before would it be reasonable for me to take the college courses of those particular studies? I'm hoping if I take the most simple college classes they offer for these studies that it would be approximately the same level. What about when I put this on my HS transcript? Should I just note that I took the classes at said community college?

My experience with community college courses has been that it makes things much, much easier when you have the teacher and other students to discuss things with. Chemistry may or may not be fun, but it will probably be doable, and Algebra II should be cake if you have sufficient grounding in Algebra I.

As for your high school transcript, yes, just note that you took x course at y community college. Include a copy of your community college transcript when it comes time to apply to a 4-year college.
