Hi,
I homeschool my son and I am having troubles with subtraction and backward counting. His addition skills are well defined but he is stuck at subtraction.
Not giving hopes, I am trying out many tools, resources and ways to make him grab the concept. But everytime he gets a wrong answer, he gets demoralized. He gives up and avoids math. This way he is losing interest in math which is the last thing I want. I am not strict at all and look for fun ways to make my child master the skill. It is just the beginning level. I have tried activities with coins. beans buttons as they say on Pinterest. This one activity with play dough was great - https://www.pinterest.com/pin/232146555773365525/. Also, what worked was games (not ipad) but printable and board games. His favorite is Cloud Hoppers - https://logicroots.com/math-games/cloud-hoppers/ - birthday gift. These helped him a lot.
I am looking for either games/activities like these, or better ways. Please suggest.
